About Me

Welcome – Seeking help is a difficult first step, and I am so glad you are here. My name is Hannah, and I am a graduate student in the final year of my master's degree in mental health and wellness counseling at Angelo State University. After working as an academic advisor for a few years, I decided to pursue licensure as a professional counselor. Having experienced mental illness myself, I hope to provide guidance and support as you uncover your own solutions and build on your inner resilience. I currently provide counseling services under the supervision of Jett Cutter Roberts M.A., LPC-S.

My Approach

My approach is rooted in empathy, respect, and collaboration. I value education and believe that knowledge is a powerful tool for meaningful change. I am initially drawn to the cognitive behavioral approach to counseling, but I recognize its limitations. Therefore, my counseling approach is a mix of techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and trauma therapy. This might be my preferred approach, but I recognize that there is not one specific type of therapy that can address all situations. I prioritize catering my practice to meet your needs.

My Experience

In May 2021, I earned a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree in guidance and counseling at Angelo State University. I also completed a graduate-level certificate in academic advising. For over two years, I worked as an academic advisor in a community college setting. I met with students to discuss their goals and educational opportunities, and I provided encouragement and support throughout their college journey.

As a Person

I support decolonization and indigenous sovereignty. I believe in creating a safer world where food, housing, and healthcare are basic human rights. I recgonize the harm caused by systemic racism, classism, and disciminiation. I advocate for equal rights among marginalized communities, and I stand with Palestine. Outside of counseling sessions, I like to read, quilt, play an occasional video game or watch my husband play video games, and last but not least, I love snuggling with my dogs.
